What to Expect Regarding Gynecologic Care

I will meet with you during your periodic gyn checkup and other scheduled visits. Please keep in mind, however, in an emergency, your physician of choice may not be in the office. Should this occur, another licensed practitioner in our group will be happy to see you. Be assured, in such circumstances he or she has access to your medical records and is able to provide you with personal, appropriate care.

Our patients are important to us and you can always expect that your medical needs will be managed by compassionate and skilled professionals. During your preventive visit, I will review your medical history as well as the current guidelines and recommendations for various screening tests. Based on your age and personal medical history they will discuss the benefits of mammography, HPV screening tests, routine pap tests and bone density scans.

Stay in touch with your primary care physician

It is important to point out that, for optimum care, your gynecologist is no substitute for a primary care physician. You need both and I encourage you to establish a relationship with a general practitioner or internist. He or she is your best resource for non-gynecologic health issues. If you do not have a primary care physician, I will gladly provide the names of several qualified doctors in the area.

Minimally Invasive Procedures

For permanent birth control we utilize Essure tubal occlusion device. These procedures offer an alternative to more traditional hospital methods of treatment, but are based on your personal medical history to safely qualify for office-based procedure. Since there are no incisions or extensive general anesthesia the recovery time is shorter and there is less post-procedure pain. Specific information regarding these procedures is provided in the list of patient education links below. Our physicians and PAs can discuss these options at your visit.

Minimally Invasive Surgery

The hallmark of our practice is minimally invasive procedures that prevent or reduce hospital interactions. With extensive training in operative hysteroscopy and minimally invasive procedures, we are expert at hysteroscopic approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic pathology. This includes patients who present with abnormal bleeding which may be related to polyps, fibroids, and neoplasms. For abnormal uterine bleeding we perform NovaSureEndometrial Ablation, which reduces abnormal and painful bleeding up to 90%. ADD THIS: WE can also perform Myosure Hysteroscopic procedures to remove large polyps and small sub-mucosal fibroids. We offer safe aspirational treatments for incomplete miscarriages up to 11-12 weeks gestation. We offer testing for single or recurrent miscarriages of al gestational ages. We do not offer voluntary terminations of pregnancy. We offer up to date treatments for ABNORMAL PAP SMEAR using Cryocautery and LEEP procedures.

We take even more special care of our patients trying to conceive and achieve parenthood of a healthy family. We make sure to involve both parents and are extremely respectful of parental social, gender, or religious preferences. We offer on-site evaluation and basic treatment of INFERTILITY caused by a variety of conditions such as: PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), endometriosis, scaring from prior surgeries and infections, structural defects like polyps, fibroids, and septums, and many others. At our location we perform full medical-gynecological evaluation, genetic counseling, complex blood work testing including pre-conception compatibility (DNA) chromosomal testing of both parents if needed, accredited Ultrasonography services, FemVue™ Sono Tubal Evalution System for selective sonohysterosalpingography to confirm proper Fallopian tube function, diagnostic or operative hysteroscopy, or possibly a scheduled hospital diagnostic or operative procedure. If diagnostic work up reveals more complex issues, our practitioners will be ready to refer you to higher level specialists such as: reproductive endocrinologist, interventional radiologists, medical sub-specialists, mental health or addiction centers, or radiology facilities for further testing. Alternatively, if the testing permits, we offer infertility treatments such as: ovulation induction with oral or injectable medications, sonographic evaluation for expectant ovulation, possibly an injectable medication to stimulate ovulation, if indicated we offer medically protocoled “Sperm Washing,” preparation and concentration of male partner semen, and if indicated IUI (intrauterine insemination – includes gently introducing the prepared semen into the uterine cavity at around the time of ovulation.
